We planned to be here in the winter sometimes, so needed indoor dining as well as outside. So we used our old oak dining/refectory table from Knutsford (one day to have end extensions made) together with 2 fabulous church pews. One supplied by Pat and Lee and one by my mum from her church when they were changing to chairs. The pews were cut to match in length. The setup is complemented by 2 industrial lights from the Cheshire Salvage Show that Malcolm duly refurbished for standard sized lightbulbs. The pew cushions were made on the Wirral by a lovely lady who thought, due to a misunderstanding, that they were destined for a church in France where my husband was a vicar! I used a ladder from the barn to show off the mainly Turkish and French table cloths and one of Pat’s mirrored stands which I painted, plus an eBay corner unit and we were ready to eat!The shelf above and supporting “beams” are set at the original barn floor height, but now just need to support the junk shop find of a procession of elephants….In the pictures below, you can see the original oil fired boiler located where the table now is. Plus the insulation, reinforcing and cable ducting now hidden in the concrete floor.
