We’re not mentioning them all and there are many others. The following are ones that we’ve visited
and are happy to recommend and you generally might not find without a pointer. Please note it’s
always worth booking in high season and some are bookable online. Please feedback on any great new
ones you find.
(The slight disclaimer is that restaurants change hands and chefs, and what is brilliant one year may not
be the next)
We have used What3Words as a geographic locator to help you find the restaurants.
Nommad - Promenades, Bourdeilles – 0553533907 –
///daffodil.allies.jottings
Lovely setting by the church and importantly in high season usually open on a Monday (when many
others are closed). Good French cooking with a South American influence as Jerome and Delphine have
spent time there. Sometimes music on Thursdays. And importantly just a 10 minute walk from Maison
Aimée

La Roseraie or La Récré Gourmande – Lieu Dit Les Courrières, Brantome – +33(0)5 53 45 77 04 -
///jackpots.kicks.succulent
Go to the Carrefour roundabout, turn right towards Brantome and you will see a sign to La Roseraie to
the right. There is a car-park on your left and walk through the garden to the terrace. There is quite a
large area inside as well if the weather is wet! A very lovely, very French menu and the couple have
been going for over 10 years, so usually extremely professional.

Le Jardin des Chou Choux – 37 Rue de Pierre de Mareuil, Brantome – 0553058816
///fearless.yields.petitioning
A lovely small hotel and great restaurant run by Angélique and Julien who have worked all over the
world and now settled in Brantome. Julien is the chef and dining is in a tranquil terrace setting.
Different but beautiful menu and food is usually excellent.

La Strada – 7 Rue de Mareuil, Brantome – 0553063665
///sings.reporter.newsdesk
Another off the obvious roads pizza joint which is great in the heat as its in a cave! You will need to
park in town and walk as it’s up a small road between the Thivier road crossroads and the main road
leading to Aldi and Carrefour. Good for kids

Le Cabanon – Imp. du Gue de L’Éperon, Creyssac 24350 - 0553048416
///muffles.seatbelts.recover
Follow signs to Creyssac (over the new bridge and turn left). When in Creyssac turn left by the church
and follow the signs around to the river’s edge. Great casual pizza restaurant (other choices are
available). Kids love it and it’s very reasonable. All our guests ask to go back. Booking advisable, it gets
really busy. (Cash only – no cards).
Only on Facebook – search “Le Cabanon Creyssac”
Chez Marie – Bussac 24350 – 0553457833
///prohibit.granite.anthem
In a beautiful location across the green from the church, Marie started as a “workers” weekday lunch
place, but now she offers her cooking to everyone – lunches only. Still the traditional sit down at 12,
maybe 12.45 at the very latest, Marie cooks and serves an amazingly good value 4 course lunch, but
you get what she’s made, so usually soup, charcuterie, a “plat”, cheese, dessert and wine for around 14
euro! Booking required and Marie doesn’t speak much English.

Auberge aux Délice de la Treille – 18 Rue de la Porte Wiridel, Montagrier 24350 – 0982633968 or
0553911263
///glowed.resolved.unsuccessful
Set in the main square of Montagrier the auberge is relaxed and they have a lovely, shaded terrace.
Open lunch and dinner, they specialise in fish but have a varied menu and I think there is a kids’ menu
too. Very chilled and easy – we’ve always eaten well with the ladies who took over early in 2023.
Only on Facebook – search “Restaurant aux Délices de la Treilles”
PÉRIGUEUX
As you might expect from a small city, Périgueux has many good restaurants, bars and winebars so we
will just mention a few that you may not find when you’re exploring.
Chez Fred – 11/13 Rue Denfert Rochereau, 24000 Périgueux – 0980741032
///helpless.tougher.stored
Right on the corner by the cathedral, Chez Fred serves great food, menu du jour or a la carte, day and
night and is perfect for lunch after you’ve been to the market on Wednesday or Saturday. Good for
kids, dogs anybody. Booking usually essential.

Barnaby’s (technically Alfred s’invite a Barnabé but everyone calls it Barnaby’s),
- 80 Rue de Bains 24750 Boulazac, Perigueux – 0553534145
///shears.shirt.teaching
You need to drive as it’s out of the way just outside the centre and is really good fun, lunch or evening.
Right on the river with lots of outside space, including a mini golf (but don’t be put off), everything from
plates of fruits de mer to kids’ chicken nuggets. Great service. Booking essential.

Le Clos Saint Front – 5 Rue de la Vertu, 24000 Périgueux - -553467858
///keener.orchids.hotdog
Pricey but last time we went it was lovely. Secluded tree shaded courtyard, cool in the summer. Quite
meat orientated but always other options. It’s easily missed as the front is literally a gate, even though
it’s opposite a square of bars and restaurants.
https://www.leclossaintfront.com
Hercule Poireau – 2 Rue de la Nation, 24000 Périgueux – 0553089076
///dented.host.maybe
Again – hard to spot. Opposite the cathedral Hercule Poireau (means leek – a pun on….) the small road
/ passage on your right (with your back to the cathedral) and 3 or 4 doors up. Good in a heatwave as
underground but Michelin and pricey. Great food for an occasion

WINE TASTING - Bergerac and Pecharment area.
If you want to go wine-tasting, Bergerac is a great town for a wander with many restaurants and bars.
However, if you want to taste a select wine variety that is difficult to find outside the area (only goes to
restaurants and regional wine merchant) then try one of the 50 vineyards in the compact Pecharmant
wine area and then go for a fabulous but reasonable lunch. It’s in a beautiful setting and is packed
every day. All our guests have loved it.
Le Bistrot du Presbytère - Rue de Bourg de Pombonne, 24140 Queyssac – 0553587336.
///pincers.influxes.tablecloth
Very good value and space for kids to run around. Booking essential
